The main data for 2020 released by the State Intellectual Property Office recently show that my country’s main intellectual property indicators are in line with expectations, and the development of intellectual property undertakings has reached a new level. 530,000 invention patents were authorized in my country. By the end of 2020, the effective number of domestic invention patents reached 2.213 million.

In 2020, there were 5.761 million trademark registrations in my country; 1052 enterprises were approved to use geographical indication special signs, and 765 geographical indication trademarks were approved to register; 14375 applications for registration of integrated circuit layout designs in my country, an increase of 72.8% year-on-year.

In 2020, the national intellectual property system handled more than 42,000 administrative adjudication cases of patent infringement disputes, and the social satisfaction score of intellectual property protection reached 80.05; the number of patent and trademark pledge financing projects reached 12,039, an increase of 43.8% year-on-year, and the total amount of pledge financing reached 2,180 Billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 43.9%.

According to reports, the quality and efficiency of my country's intellectual property review will be further improved in 2020. The examination period for high-value patents was reduced to 14 months, the average examination period for invention patents was reduced to 20 months, and the average examination period for trademark registration applications was shortened to 4 months. The structure of domestic invention patents has been continuously optimized. The number of valid domestic invention patents maintained for more than 10 years reached 281,000, accounting for 12.3% of the total, an increase of 1 percentage point from the previous year. There are 246,000 domestic companies with valid invention patents, an increase of 33,000 from the previous year. Among them, high-tech companies have invention patents accounting for nearly 60%.
