According to the report "The Economic Contribution of the Copyright-Based Industries in China in 2019" issued by the Chinese Academy of Press and Publication recently, copyright administrations at all levels in China comprehensively took legal, policy and administrative measures to promote high-quality development of copyright-based industries during the 13th Five-Year Plan period （2016-2020）. The industrial added value has increased from 5.46 trillion yuan in 2016 to 7.32 trillion yuan in 2019, with its scale up 34%. The Report shows that the share of the copyright industry in GDP and its overall scale have maintained a continuous growth, with the industries' added value reaching 7.32 trillion yuan in 2019, up 10.34% and accounting for 7.39% of the GDP, up 0.02%. It is reported that the copyright industry, a new engine of innovation-driven development, has played a vital part in the optimization and upgrading of China's economic structure, injecting vigorous momentum for China's high-quality development.

In terms of its contribution to the GDP, the proportion of the industries' added value in GDP has grown from 7.33% in 2016 to 7.39% in 2019, up 0.06%. The Report shows that with further promotion of supply-side structural reform in China, business sectors including press and publishing, radio, television, software and advertising and design accelerate digital transformation, advancing the rapid growth of the core copyright industries. In 2019, the added value of the core copyright industries was 4.59 trillion yuan, up 10% and accounting for 63% of the copyright-based industries.

In recent years, China's copyright-based industries have kept a good momentum of steady growth, playing an important role in ensuring stability in employment, the financial sector, foreign trade, foreign and domestic investments, and expectations and security in job, basic living needs, operations of market entities, food and energy security, stable industrial and supply chains, and the normal functioning of primary-level governments. In 2019, the employment of copyright-based industries was 16.286 million, accounting for 9.49% of the total national employment. The foreign trade of the industries has maintained stable while its quality improved during the period. In 2019, the total value of commodity export for customs of the copyright-based industries was 365.33 billion dollars or 14.62% of the total national commodity export for customs, staying above 11% for multiple years.
